King Kong in the Desert

I really like these little embrordery thingies.

People amaze me daily with all their wonderful ideas. It’s quite nice.

Cycling aran

Cycling aran

I’ve started the first sleeve of Sean’s cycling aran and I love this sweater. I’m glad it will remain close by. It knits up fast, I’m just a little pokey in general. Adrian of Hello Yarn was amazingly helpful when I had dopey questions.

sore throat

I’m a little sick this week, so I’m heading over to the urgent care facility in a bit. Now, I have had a funny little history of names of the service-oriented individuals in my life.

I used to visit a doctor named Dr. Atlas. My dentist was Dr. Jurassic. My mechanic was a tough lady named Buffy. My hair stylist was Peaches. I was supposed to see Dr. Afro, but he left. And today I’m going to see Dr. Ruth.

Mom’s Cranberry Mold

1 3 oz. raspberry Jello
1 3 oz. lemon Jello
1/2 C sugar
2 C boiling Cranberry juice cocktail
1 C cold water
1 can 8 oz. crushed pineapple w/ juice
1 T lemon juice
2 C fresh cranberries
1 orange, unpeeled, in quarters
1 C chopped celery
1/2 C walnuts

Combine Jello w/ sugar in large bowl. Pour cocktail over starting to dissolve sugar. Stir in cold water, undrained pineapple and lemon juice. refrigerate until thick as unbeatened egg whites.

Put cranberries and orange through grinder (Cuisinart, or chop really, really fine). Combine w/ celery and nuts and fold into jello mixture. Pour into 8.5 C
mold or 12 x 7.5 x 2 baking dish. Chill until firm.

(Note: I always leave out the celery because I’m allergic (actually I just hate it) and the walnuts, just in case someone has a nut allergy.)

Martha’s Vineyard

P1010016.JPG

We played with Chris Brokaw in Cambridge and on the Vineyard last weekend. It was our first time leaving Dwight alone, and I worried a little, but he had a great time, and so did we. We had a house in Chilmark all to ourselves, some amazing food at Offshore Ale, where we played, and ran into a couple of friends too. It was a really good time.

Site and Flickr updates

I’m still working out the kinks, and have a bit more to do, but the functionality of the site is finally coming together. I even posted some photos on Flickr today.

Ok…

This site is a mess… but I’ve had quite a hard time creating a WordPress template that functions as I want it to. I’m still adding Flickr photos, so take a look… and stay tuned. Thanks.
