Killers or coders

I got 8 out of 10. Not that I’m proud.

I am officially signed up for SP5, and I’m psyched. There are so many reasons to keep this little site current, and now I have to! I will post the answers to the questionnaire shortly.

We went to see Mom in Jersey this weekend, then shot down to her brother’s farm in PA on Sunday. I’ll post pics later. We rose bright and early to go to the Memorial Day parade on Saturday, and though it started an hour late, it was fun. I was overdressed — I think sometimes I get over-excited…. I was in a pencil-skirt and big sunglasses, I think i envisioned myself waving a scarf at the military men like some kind of … I don’t know. So before we went to the hot dog and beer part of the parade (barely at noon) I ran home and changed into some jeans.

On the way back from PA I almost finished Teva Durham’s ballet t-shirt for the second time, this time I made it larger, and it’s still not fitting me quite right. I’ll post pics later, but for now I’m annoyed and sad about it. I love her patterns and want to put one on my body and wear it.

JP-eeps

I knew Group Hug was straight outta JP, but I didn’t know Leslie Hall, of Gem Collection fame, also lives in the ‘hood.

Picture books

The other day I bought theseand today I waded through a pile of nerds at Barnes & Noble to buy this.

Peanut’s great, but she really should hit the books. She’s completely fishtank obsessed. Her other hobby is chasing the reflection of my watch across the room.

Plates are great

At PFZ.com you can design your own plates! (They’re super-expensive though.)

We broke some of our mugs recently (they don’t bounce like we thought they would). Note to self: Replacements, Ltd. has ‘em. And they have the extra veggie bowl I’ve been wanting too. My Mom replaced one of my Grandma’s crystal water goblets that broke two Xmases ago from here. What an ingenious business idea.

Terry’s so very

Terry Gross did a great interview with R. Crumb last week. Definitely worth a listen. I was surprised to hear that a lot of that early work was inspired by acid trips. I knew he had much distain for hippies and assumed he balked at their drugs as well.

She also interviewed Mimi and Alan from Low and dug pretty deep into what’s behind The Great Destroyer, their latest album.

Oh, and my brother-in-law, Dan, did some posters for Wilco, that are amazing.

Blahday

It’s Monday and the weather’s yucky. The Staircase is over too, so I don’t have that to look forward to tonight, unfortunately. We watched another documentary called Whole on Comcast On-Demand last week — it was about people who have the desire to become amputees. Uh huh.

I updated the projects page to include a pic of the sweater I made my niece. I saw her yesterday and she’s walking, which is awesome and weird. Time goes too fast. I’m also just about done with the Ballet T-shirt from Teva Durham’s new book Loop-D-Loop, which I love.

I had pretty good pressed sandwich today (the “Italian Chicken”) from this new place in Central Sq., not so originally named Pressed Sandwiches, and it reminded me of how so very much I love Chacarero in Downtown Crossing. There’s always a line, the menu’s basic, and there’s a slight sense of mystery surrounding their ingredients (string beans in their sandwiches? what’s in their special sauce?) — they’ve got the right idea. I hear the owner plans to open a sit-down place around the area too.
